Burke Hospital Expansion Made Possible by SDFB Donation

Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, S.D., will be celebrating an expansion to their hospital that was made possible thanks to a $10,000 donation from the South Dakota Farm Bureau Centennial Community Initiative.

To celebrate the new $6 million facility, a ribbon cutting ceremony, tours and activities will take place beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 29th at the hospital in Burke. Weather permitting, the first helicopter landing will take place on the new helipad at 4:30 p.m.

“South Dakota Farm Bureau and Gregory County Farm Bureau are proud to play a role in furnishing the new reception area that is part of this project,” said Krystil Smit, SDFB Executive Director. “We know how important quality healthcare is close to home. The beautiful new reception area will send a great first impression to the many that will be using this new facility.”

The reception area furnishings were made possible thanks to a $5,000 donation from the South Dakota Farm Bureau Centennial Community Initiative, combined with a $5,000 donation from the Gregory County Farm Bureau.

The SDFB Centennial Community Initiative was a grant program for community projects that served a need in a community, made a difference and reflected Farm Bureau’s mission and vision. SDFB invested more than $100,000 in local communities for community improvement projects during its centennial year in 2017.
