South Dakota Farm Bureau is issuing a challenge to all county Farm Bureaus and their communities to raise $10,000 for the new South Dakota State University Cow/Calf Unit. As you remember, the Unit was destroyed in a fire March 2, 2012.

According to SDSU, the Cow/Calf Teaching and Research Unit plays a key role in serving the needs of SDSU students and state cattle producers. In addition to the teaching opportunities, research from the Unit focuses on nutrition, management, and reproduction needs for cow/calf producers. Cattle from the Unit are also used for several functions including the SDSU Little International, Extension field days, and various 4-H and FFA activities.
