Wayne Smith, Executive Director of the South Dakota Farm Bureau, was interviewed in an Argus Leader article discussing a bill in the State Legislature that would limit the length of conservation easements to 30 years. SDFB policy, as set by our membership at the November 2012 SDFB Annual Meeting, supports the landowner's right to buy back conservation easements at change of ownership or renegotiate the easement every 30 years.
