South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) will have a strong presence at the Black Hills Stock

Show and Rodeo (BHSS) taking place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center and Central

States Fairgrounds Jan. 25 - Feb. 3, 2019 in Rapid City.

Livestock shows and sales, professional rodeos, trade show and educational activities

are just a few of the activities on tap at the event that draws close to 300,000 attendees

during the ten-day show.

"We are excited to be part of this annual event to share more about the benefits of being
a South Dakota Farm Bureau member and provide information about important policy
issues," said Krystil Smit, SDFB Executive Director.

Also during BHSS, the SDFB Women's Leadership Team (WLT) will offer educational

activities in the Civic Center for area middle school students.

"The WLT is teaching an educational session on dairy and poultry as well as helping
with sessions on goats, soil, grasslands and beef nutrition," added Smit. "They are also
handing out a packet of information and activities for teachers to use in their classrooms. Over 700 students from area schools participate in the event each year."

SDFB will be in LaCroix Hall at the Civic Center in booths #17 and #18. The SDFB

Young Farmers & Ranchers will be selling raffle tickets for two Henry Guns. The Henry

Gun drawing will take place at the SDFB Convention in November in Sioux Falls, S.D.

A special event at BHSS is a Ranchers Appreciation Social, sponsored by the

Pennington/Jackson, and Meade/Ziebach Farm Bureaus, which takes place on Monday, January 28, 2019. For tickets, stop by the

SDFB booth at the BHSS.
