Two South Dakota State University students were named winners of the SDSU Collegiate Farm Bureau “Discussion Meet” held November 7 and will go on to represent South Dakota Farm Bureau at a national competition in February.
Bailey Hurlbert, a junior Ag Education and Ag Communications major from Raymond, S.D., and John Weber, a sophomore Animal Science major from Sanborn, M.N., will represent the state in the national Discussion Meet at the American Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Leadership Conference February 8-13 in Phoenix.
“On behalf of South Dakota Farm Bureau and its 13,000 member families, I offer our congratulations to these two outstanding students,” said Lowell Mesman with the South Dakota Farm Bureau, coordinator of the Young Farmers & Ranchers and Collegiate programs. “The ability to clearly and effectively communicate these complex agricultural topics will not only serve Bailey and John well in their college studies, but also in their future careers.”
