Nov. 14, 2024 – HURON, SD – South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) proudly congratulates Sen. John Thune on his recent election to Senate Majority Leader, as well as Gov. Kristi Noem on her appointment by President-Elect Donald Trump to serve as Secretary of Homeland Security. The elevation of both leaders underscores the respect they’ve earned on the national stage, bringing South Dakota’s values and perspectives to two influential national positions.

Senator Thune, having garnered the confidence and respect of his Senate peers in a decisive, confidential vote, has continually demonstrated his commitment to advancing policies that benefit rural America.

Meanwhile, Governor Noem’s selection to head the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) brings additional national influence to South Dakota. Her leadership background, combined with her understanding of rural issues and national security concerns, makes her a valuable asset to the DHS role.
