South Dakota Farm Bureau Hosting Summer Event Series

South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) and County Farm Bureaus are hosting a series of events across the state as part of its Summer Event Series.
The series includes a variety of activities that are organized by county members in Farm Bureau districts. The goal of this series is to provide educational opportunities and access to top experts and thought leaders to farmers and ranchers throughout the state. All events are open to the public and SDFB members and non-members are encouraged to take part of any of the activities.
South Dakota Farm Bureau is divided into 7 geographical districts. Each district is made up of counties in the respective area and is led by an elected district director who serves on the SDFB State Board of Directors.
SDFB Summer Event Series topics and locations include:
July 18, 2022 –
An autonomous farming educational seminar featuring Nick Langerock with Raven Industries and Nick Morrow with Verge Ag will be held at the AmericInn near Chamberlain, S.D. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a social, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and presentation at 6:30 p.m.
July 21, 2022 –
The Casey Tibbs Center in Ft. Pierre will be the venue for a special introduction and welcome reception for Dr. Beth Thompson, South Dakota’s new State Veterinarian and Executive Secretary of the South Dakota Animal Industry Board. The event will feature a meal and mingling with the new state vet.
July 28, 2022 –
Farm transition training featuring national expert Elaine Froese will be held at The Bridges Golf Course in Beresford, S.D. The event titled, “Growing Generations through Courageous Conversations,” is a critical topic for succession planning for farmers and ranchers. Multi-generation families are encouraged to attend. August 8, 2022 –
Ted Howard of Ted Howard Stockmanship of Oakley, KS, will be the featured clinician at a livestock handling seminar at the Wall, S.D. Rodeo Grounds. August 15, 2022 –
American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall will be the guest at an open house at Davis Seeds near Waubay, S.D. Hear from the leader of the largest ag organization in the nation about top issues in DC that affect farmers and ranchers in every state. Earlier this summer, a sustainable agriculture tour was held at the Mizera farm near McLaughlin, S.D.
